If Math isn't fun, at least some of time, you might ask yourself
"what are we doing wrong?" Math, by its very nature, is
exciting and dynamic. The study itself is never ending. There are
always new things to learn and explore. Math is a part of science,
music, philosophy, history and so many other exciting things. A study of
math is not simply a study of calculation skills. There is so much
more to it than that. We over-emphasis calculation skills because they
are easy to assign and grade.
Kids are so naturally curious that I believe they are born programmed to
ask the right questions. They want to know WHY, WHY, WHY about
everything and they are very observant. We have to be ready to help them
find the answers in a way that is meaningful to them.
